Tampa Condos - Here Comes the Boom! (and along came Covid!)

Back in 2016, we convened this panel to discuss the coming condominium boom in Tampa.  Well, we may have been a little ahead of ourselves, but it is finally here! Come hear from the developers of two active Tampa projects, along with the sales director from every major project in the Tampa Bay area.  The panel will explore the submarkets of Tampa, what the current stock market volatility means for condo sales, and will also examine how much runway we have here in the Bay area for condominiums.  

Will Conroy, Johnson Pope (moderator)

Will handles a broad range of complex commercial real estate and corporate issues for his clients throughout Florida and the entire Southeast.  His clients include developers, investors institutional private equity funds, EB-5 developers and funds, as well as high net worth individuals and their associated family offices.  He also regularly counsels clients on corporate securities and financing related matters. Representative engagements include serving as lead counsel on the development of a 15-acre mixed-use project, negotiating a portfolio of ground leases for a fast-growing restaurant chain, handling all financing negotiations (including FNMA) for a multi-family owner/operator, counseling a private lender client on the purchase (and subsequent modifications) of commercial loans, the sale of a portfolio of limited-service hotels, and representing the developer of an affordable housing project utilizing tax credits.

Brian Van Slyke, Kolter

As the Regional President of Kolter Urban’s Tampa Bay market, Brian is responsible for executing the firm’s strategy in the region. Brian’s responsibilities include site acquisition, entitlements, design, construction, delivery and financial performance. Brian has developed thousands of condo units in Florida and across the U.S. along with extensive commercial, hospitality and single-family experience. Brian graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology where he studied Construction Management and Architectural Engineering. Brian maintains his Florida sales associate license, is a LEED AP and has held multiple GC licenses.

David Moyer, Smith & Associates

David B. Moyer is recognized as one of the top young emerging real estate professionals in Tampa Bay. David's current position in the company is the Director of Sales in the Developer Services Department. He manages the sales of new construction & existing multi-family projects from condominium towers, townhome developments, to new home builds. David joined Smith & Associates Real Estate over 15 years ago and has closed over 2,000 homes. As one of the most unique minds in the business – he truly redefines what a real estate professional should be. Utilizing older real estate practices with the new, he provides a fresh new style for buying and selling needs. His market knowledge keeps him in front of competition – and his outgoing, fun character and passion for what he does make for a one of a kind experience. 

Brian Taub, Taub Ventures

Brian and Debbie Taub have been developing real estate in Tampa for 29 years. In the early years they built and developed townhomes and single family homes, including two communities on Harbour Island. Commercial projects, such as retail centers, a grocery store, an office building and hotel later came into the fold. The last four projects Taub developed are condominiums on the beach, downtown St. Petersburg and most recently on Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa.
